Indonesia recorded a trade surplus for the second consecutive month in September, as exports of the country’s main commodities increased, said the Indonesian statistics agency.
Indonesia’s trade surplus reached 1.76 billion USD in September, compared to the Reuters forecast of 1.18 billion USD and the surplus of 1.72 billion USD in August.
The country’s exports in September increased 15.6 percent year-on-year, standing at 14.54 billion USD. Meanwhile, imports climbed 13.13 percent year-on-year, to 12.78 billion USD.
Indonesia’s trade surplus in September was supported by shipments of commodities like gas, coal and palm oil.
The same day, the statistics agency also changed the export-import statistics for August. Although the trade surplus of 1.72 billion USD was unchanged, export value rose from 15.21 billion USD to 15.23 billion USD, while import value increased from 13.4 billion USD to 13.51 billion USD./.
