UAE President hails PM Dung’s visit

The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Khaliffa Bin Sultan Al Nuhayyan, highlighted Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to his country as a vivid manifestation of the deepening ties between the two countries.
The UAE leader made these remarks during his meeting with the visiting Vietnamese government leader on February 16, where he also expressed his admiration for the Vietnamese people’s undaunted struggle for national independence and their successes in the current cause of national construction.

Meanwhile, PM Dung said “In accordance with its foreign policy of openness, diversification and multilateralisation, Vietnam has placed importance on developing its cooperation and friendship with countries in the Gulf. UAE is becoming an important and prioritised partner of Vietnam.”

The Vietnamese and UAE leaders shared their happiness at the fact that the two countries have recorded encouraging developments in their political and economic cooperation.

They agreed that the two countries possess untapped potential and should capitalise on this resource to further increase their cooperation, especially in investment, finance, banking, trade, labour, energy and agriculture.

Both leaders expressed their hopes that the visit would give a boost to bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE.

On the same day, PM Dung met with representatives of UAE economic giants at the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he told those gathered that he was accompanied by more than 100 Vietnamese businesspeople who are eager to seek investment opportunities in the oil-rich country.

The PM also informed the UAE entrepreneurs that Vietnam is in need of investment in its energy, infrastructure, agriculture, finance, banking, healthcare, education and tourism sectors, which are fields in which UAE businesspeople have invested in elsewhere in the world, adding, “The Vietnamese government will create conditions facilitating UAE businesses’ investment in Vietnam”.

Following the meeting, PM Dung witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
