Out of 67 projects licensed over the past two months, the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau boasts for the three biggest ones, namely the Binh Chau Safari and Resort totally worth of US $500 million, the Toc TienNew Urban Quarter (US $600 million) and the Vietstar Mixed-User Complex (US $200 million).
At least ten projects have been pumped with the total additional capital of US $3.815 billion, up 41% compared with the same period in 2008. Especially, the Saigon Atlantis Hotel Complex, invested by the US-based Winvest Investment LLC, was readjusted from US $300 million up to US $4.1 billion.
Due to the global financial crisis and economic downturn, the FDI inflow is predicted to plummet this year. The MPI’s statistics show that the two-month FDI figures in Hanoi and Hai Phong just stand respectively at 7% and 27% against the same period.
The MPI said that it will focus on facilitating the realization and disbursement of licensed projects.
