Thai government is considering moving venue of ASEAN and East Asian dialogue summits in Phuket in April, local media reported.
Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva raised the idea during a cabinet meeting on Mar. 10, said The Nation newspaper.
"PM worried that the logistics in Phuket during the period which is considered high tourism season may not enough for big delegations of leaders of 16 countries," the newspaper quoted an informed source as saying.
Pattaya is a potential new location for the summit, the source said, adding that Thai foreign ministry officials will soon visit the area to check the logistics.
ASEAN leaders and those of China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand and India are scheduled to meet in Phuket from April 10 to 12, according to the newspaper.
