The theme of the ASEAN plus 3 and East Asia Summit, where leaders of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will meet counterparts from Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand and the Republic of Korea, is "acting together to cope with global challenges" and much discussion will focus on the financial and economic crisis, he told reporters on Mar. 30.
Key figures from international organisations will also join the summit, including UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and the chiefs of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB).
