Continuing his official visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK), PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Saturday has separate meetings with President Lee Myung-bac and Speaker of the Korean National Assembly Kim Hyong-o.

Meeting the host President, PM Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed that Vietnam considers the RoK one of its leading partners. He expected the two countries to deepen ties in all fields, raising the bilateral relationship to a strategic cooperative partnership.
The Vietnamese PM also asked President Lee to give greater ODA to Vietnam and facilitate the entry of Vietnamese exports into the RoK.

President Lee hailed and expressed his support to the intention to upgrade the bilateral ties to the “strategic cooperative partnership” for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
The two leaders showed their pleasure at the blooming friendship and cooperation between the two countries, agreeing to promote comprehensive cooperation to bring the bilateral relationship to a new plane.

Regarding the issue of Korean peninsula, PM Dung stressed that Vietnam follows the consistent policy of supporting the denuclearization of the peninsula, disagreeing with nuclear test and nuclear weapon proliferation, and advocating the settlement of nuclear issues in Korea through dialogues and peaceful negotiations.

On the same day, PM Dung met the Korean National Assembly’s Speaker Kim Hyong-o.
Praising Vietnam’s recent achievements and potentials, Speaker Kim said that the Korean legislative body backs the enhanced relations with Vietnam and wants to expand its ties with the Vietnamese National Assembly.
PM Dung hoped that Korean law-makers would further take care and assist Vietnamese nationals living in the RoK.
