Right after the welcome ceremony, PM Nguyen Tan Dung held talks with Hungarian PM Gordon Bajnai.
In the atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding, the two leaders discussed on ways to cement and deepen the bilateral ties as well as the two countries’ collaboration on multilateral forums, especially when Vietnam will take over the ASEAN presidency in 2010 and Hungary will assume the rotating president of the EU in the first half of 2011.
Hungary pledged to recognize Vietnam as a market economy and oppose anti-dumping tax on its leather shoes.
Both sides agreed to regularly exchange high-ranking delegations with a view to building trust and understanding that would lay a solid foundation for further cooperation in all fields.
Although the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Hungary has doubled over the last five years, the trade and investment ties are not commensurate with respective potentials and aspiration. Hence, the two sides pledged to create favorable conditions for enterprises to do business in each other’s markets.
