Welcoming the delegation of the Vietnamese Government, President D. Medvedev stated that “the visit of PM Nguyen Tan Dung reflects Vietnam’s intention to consolidate and strengthen the strategic partnership and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, bringing the bilateral relationship to a new height.”
The two leaders shared their opinions and pleasure at the vigorous development of the Vietnam - Russia relationship in all fields. They underscored the significance of the high-ranking regular political dialogues through which senior leaders can exchange their views and reach consensus on measures to boost ties.

PM Dung and President Medvedev talked of major diplomatic activities of the two countries in 2010, especially the Russian tour of Vietnamese Communist Party chief Nong Duc Manh in the first half, the visit to Vietnam made by the Russian President, and the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties establishment.
PM Dung praised Russia for its considerable contributions to regional processes, including the ASEAN - Russia dialogue partnership, confirming that Việt Nam supports and will do it utmost, as the Chair of ASEAN in 2010, to successfully the Russia -ASEAN Summit in Hanoi nex year.
The Vietnamese PM also briefed major issues to be placed on the table during his talks with the host PM Vladimir Putin.
He hoped that President Medvedev would pay attention to the realization of agreements reached by the two governments, especially in energy, petroleum, trade, and military technical cooperation./.
