President Triet leaves for APEC Summit and Singapore tour
Attending the upcoming Asia–Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting in Singapore, State President Nguyen Minh Triet wants to promote Vietnam’s status in the APEC and contribute to its top agenda.

At the invitation of Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong, State President Nguyen Minh Triet and his spouse today left Ha Noi to attend the 17th APEC Leaders’ Meeting in Singapore on November 14- 15.
Under the theme “Sustaining growth, connecting the region”, the Meeting focuses its discussions on main areas, such as overcoming the global economic crisis and thrusting economic recovery; supporting multilateral trading systems; accelerating regional economic integration; and boosting relations among APEC members.
Right after the Meeting, the Vietnamese Head of State and his spouse will pay an official visit to Singapore for the next two days at the invitation of Singaporean President Nathan.
The upcoming visit aims to cement and deepen the friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries in economics, trade and investment in the context when signs of recovery have been seen.
It was reported that Singapore is one of Vietnam’s leading trade partners. In the first seven months of 2009, the two-way trade volume reached US $3.3 billion. Singapore has over 700 valid projects in Vietnam with the registered capital of around US $17 billion.
