Viet Nam will ignite, from May 15 onward, its propagation for the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia which is slated for June 2010 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The announcement was made today after Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai, Director of the Steering Committee for WEF on East Asia, had selected key agencies to take charge of the preparation of necessary propagation items. These agencies include the Ministry of Foreign Affair, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Viet Nam National Television, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
The Deputy PM also assigned the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Finance to secure the safety and the spending budget of the event.
The World Economic Forum on East Asia 2010 will highlight the region’s steady economic recovery through increasing regional economic integration, local consumption and adaptive stimulus measures.
It will take place this June and expects to attract at least 350-400 participants, who are regional leaders, world leading enterprises, experts and media.
The forum places high hopes on fortifying competitiveness and driving innovation and environmentally friendly economies while bringing regional enterprises closer together, WEF Director of Asia – Pacific Region Sushant Rao said.
This is the first time for Viet Nam to host such an international-scale and important event. The country was selected as the host because it was widely recognized a promising economy in the region that boasts for huge potential to break through the global economic downturn.
