Australian businesses head to Vietnam for opportunities
An Australian business delegation will pay a visit to Vietnam on May 23-25, as part of the trade and investment promotion program backed by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), to seek investment opportunities.
The delegation includes 16 enterprises providing technical support for projects on energy, clean water, infrastructure, environment protection, education and healthcare.
The visit aims at satisfying Australian businesses’ thirst for expanding investment activities in Việt Nam, the Commission said.
During their stay in Hanoi, this delegation plans to have working sessions with representative offices of the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), ministries and international sponsors on Việt Nam’s top priorities, future strategies and projects.
Earlier, Austrade also sent a delegation of ten Australian enterprises specializing in mining to the Southeast Asian country for the same purpose.
According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, the two-way trade has been developing well during the past years. The first-four-month value stood at US $1.3 billion, up by 34% against the same period last year.
Most recently, the Australian Government said that it will raise ODA for Việt Nam to AU $119.8 million in the financial year 2010-2011, or AU $6.5 million more, to help the latter fulfill development goals, improve human resources, infrastructure and institutional development./.
