Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai and his entourage on June 14 arrived in Oslo, embarking on the official visit to the Kingdom of Norway through separate meetings with Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Trond Giske and Minister of Environment and International Development Erik Solheim.

At his talks with Norwegian Minister of Trade and IndustryTrond Giske, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai held that the two-way trade turnover and Norway’s direct investment in Vietnam are relatively modest in comparison with potentials and aspirations of the two countries. Hence, the Deputy PM suggested the two governments attach more importance to economic ties.
Vietnam is doing its utmost to perfect the legal system, conduct administrative reforms, better infrastructure, and improve human resources with a view to offering more favorable business climate for foreign investors, including Norwegian ones, to succeed in their advantageous domains.
For his part, Minister Trond Giske expressed his impression on Vietnam’s development achievements, especially in weathering the global economic crisis.
The visit, said Mr. Trond Giske, would bring the Southeast Asian and Nordic economies closer.
The host Minister also announced that quite a few Norwegian are interested in shaking hands with Vietnamese partners in such fields as aquaculture, hydroelectricity and ship building.

On the same day, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai had a lunch meeting with Norwegian Minister of Environment and International Development Erik Solheim.
Deputy PM Hai took this occasion to suggest Norway expand ODA provision for Vietnam in new aspects like combating climate change and developing clean energy.
Both sides also spent time on discussing preferential credit projects and negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association.
Finally, Deputy PM Hai and Minister Erik Solheim witnessed the signing ceremony of a training cooperation agreement between the Vietnam National University and the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Univerversity of Science and Technology./.
