This is the second time Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh makes a state visit to Russia to cement and deepen the traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and strategic partnership between and the two sides.
As scheduled, Party chief Nong Duc Manh, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and other Russian leaders will review the 10-year cooperation within the framework of the Vietnam-Russia strategic partnership, discuss ways to speed up signed agreements, define major orientations to strengthen the bilateral relations and consolidate mutual trust.
The five-day visit on July 8-12 takes place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
Founded in 2001, the strategic partnership between the two countries has been put into practice in various fields.
In political aspect, both sides maintain reciprocal visits at high-ranking leaders.
In economic term, the trade turnover annually surges by 15% on average. The two countries target to raise the two-way trade value from US $1.8 billion in 2009, to US $3 billion in 2010 and US $10 billion in 2020.
Russian businesses have engaged in 67 projects worth of US $755 million in the domains of petroleum, manufacture and processing in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Vietnam has invested US $100 million through 12 projects in Russia in petroleum, banking, trade and services./.
