Lao Airlines has admitted that it has lost at least 300,000 USD or 2.5 billion kip due to the closure of Suvarnbhumi International Airport in Bangkok for a week, said Lao news agency (KPL).
Suvarnbhumi International Airport of Thailand is one of the biggest airports in ASEAN Nations, and is a main gateway to other continents worldwide.
However, the airport was closed when Thai anti-government protestors seized it on November 26.
Lao Airlines’ Vice Marketing Manager Sitthideth Duangsitthi confirmed that 2,196 Lao airlines passengers were trapped at Suvarnbhumi Airport leading to cancellations and changing of their transit flights to Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia./.
