The Vân Đồn Economic Zone (EZ) in Quảng Ninh Province is planned to become a center of high-class marine tourism and entertainment as well as an international transport hub. It will also function as a driving force for the development of the whole Northern Economic Region with modern social and technical infrastructure systems to serve environment protection and sustainable development.
The PM just signed a decision on the master planning scheme of the Vân Đồn EZ until 2020 and vision to 2030.
The EZ will cover the entire Vân Đồn District with an area of 2,171.33 km2, including 551.33 km2 of natural land and 1,620 km2 of sea surface. Its population size is estimated to reach 150,000 by 2020.
The EZ must be in harmony with the Hải Hà Industrial Park-Seaport, Đình Vũ-Cát Hải EZ, Móng Cái border-gate city, and China’s Hainan Island.
The EZ is divided into nine parts, of which the tourist quarter is the core, with various tourist services like eco-tourism, high-class entertainment, cultural-historical tourism and others.
Other main parts include international financial and trade center; international transport and logistics hub; clean industrial park; and other parts for agriculture, forestry, aquaculture.
The construction of the EZ must ensure modernity, minimize negative impacts on environment, and be convenient for traveling and working within the EZ.
