At the talks this afternoon, PM Nguyen Tan Dzung and his Qatari counterpart had thorough discussions on orientations and solutions to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar.
At the beginning of the talks with Qatari PM Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jaber al Thani, PM Nguyen Tan Dzung briefed the host about Vietnam’s recent socio-economic situations and measures taken by the Vietnamese Government to mitigate negative impacts of the global economic crisis.
PM Dzung took the occasion to praise Qatar as one of big financial and trade centers in the region and the world.
He asserted that Vietnam always attaches importance to promoting the cooperation with Qatar as an important partner in the Gulf of Persia.
Qatari PM Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jaber al Thanilauded Vietnam for its achievements gained in the cause of renovation as well as in coping with the current economic turmoil.
The host stressed that PM Nguyen Tan Dzung’s visit would bring the bilateral relationship to a new stage of development, sustainable and effective. He stated that Qatar will enhance its multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, especially in investment, finance, energy, agriculture, labor and trade. He pledged to recognize Vietnam as a real market economy and open a diplomatic office in Hanoi soon.

The two PMs discuss bilateral relationship and cooperation

The two leaders exchanged their view about ways to cement and deepen the bilateral ties between Vietnam and Qatar. They agreed to establish the energy and food partnership, expand investment and financial cooperation through running the Common Investment Fund worth of US $1 billion, and boost labor cooperation and trade exchanges.
The two PMs vowed to urge their foreign ministries to negotiate for an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and business passport holders. They agreed to back enterprises to promote investment and business activities.
After the talks, the two PMs witnessed the signing of agreements on double tax avoidance, investment encouragement and protection, air transport, agriculture, and investment promotion.
