A Senior Officers Meeting (SOM) of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will be held in Manado, the capital city of North Sulawesi, Indonesia from May 6-8 this year, reported local media.
There are many issues to be discussed during the ASEAN SOM which will be participated by foreign ministers of ASEAN member countries, Antara news agency quoted ASEAN Director General Djauhari Oratmangun as saying on Mar. 17.
The discussions of the ASEAN SOM will centre more on political, economic, social and cultural issues in the run-up to the ASEAN Free Trade Area in 2015.
Other issues relating to illegal logging, trans-national crime, terrorism, illegal fishing and protection of intellectual rights will also be discussed.
The event is expected to attract at least 50 up to 60 officials of representative offices of ASEAN member countries, the agency said./.
