PM Nguyen Tan Dung and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2010 slated for January 25-31 in Davos, Switzerland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.
The Government chief also plans to have separate working sessions with the United Nations and the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva on the occasion.
In response to new priorities, the organizing theme for the 40th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in 2010 is a call to action, "Improve the State of the World: Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild"
Theagenda will focus on six areas of inquiry and their global, regional and industry dimensions, namely (i) How to Strengthen Economic and Social Welfare; (ii) How to Mitigate Global Risks and Address Systemic Failures; (iii) How to Ensure Sustainability; (iv) How to Enhance Security; (v) How to Create a Values Framework; and (vi) How to Build Effective Institutions.
Regional discussion will be opened throughout 2010 in Belgium, China, Colombia, India, Morocco, Tanzania, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.
As the Chair of ASEAN in 2010, Vietnam is the ideal host of the WEF on East Asia in June, where leaders across East Asia will discuss how to ensure the region's ongoing competitiveness and enlarge its voice in global cooperation./.
