Local–local cooperation between Vietnam, Italy expanded
As part of his official visit to Italy, Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung met with President of the Lombardia Region Formigoni, Mayor of Milan Letizia Moratti, and witnessed the signing ceremonies of some key agreements.

The Vietnamese leader noted that the bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly economics and trade, have ever been so fine. The ties have expanded at national, local and corporate scales.
Meeting with PresidentFormigoni, Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung spoke highly of the socio-economic achievements of the Lombardia Region which is currently one of the financial-economic-industrial hubs of Italy and Europe as well.
He praised for the President and Lombardia’s efforts to cement cooperation with Vietnam, saying that the two sides are well poised to spur linkages.
A cooperation deal between Vietnam and the Lombardia Region was signed on the occasion, which provs the two sides’ determination to get closer.
The Deputy PM called on the region to expand their investment in Vietnam’s infrastructure and energy.
Vietnamese small and medium enterprises hope to share experience in the fields of trade, tourism, culture, education and technology with Italian partners, he added.

Mr. Formigoni confirmed the Lombardia Region’s readiness to develop comprehensive cooperation with the Southeast Asian country.
He also appreciated the socio-economic fruits gained by Vietnam during the past years of renovation.

Vietnam is keen on both economic development and education-healthcare-poverty reduction to maintain public consensus, said Deputy PM Hung during his meeting with Mayor of Milan Letizia Moratti.
The country now focuses on improving infrastructure, human quality, and administrative reforms and it needs strong cooperation with the European country in these domains.

He urged Milan City to boost the exchanges of students and lecturers with Vietnam as an effective way to enrich the Vietnam-Italy relations.
For her part, Mrs. Letizia Moratti evaluated the equitization and restructuring of Vietnamese State-owned enterprises.
Further cooperation should be enhanced in economics, trade, industry, agriculture, education, and technology between Vietnam and Milan, she said.
Mrs. Letizia Moratti thanked Vietnam for its support for Milan City to host the World Exhibition 2015 and invited Vietnam to join the European Tourism Exhibition there next year.
A direct air route between Hanoi and Milan should also be launched, she suggested.
Earlier, Deputy PM Hungwelcomed representatives of the Intesa Santalo Bank, Finmeccanica Conglomerate, Lottomatica Group, and Perfetti Van Melle (PVM)./.
