There are wide doors for Vietnam and the US to boost trade and investment ties, said PM Dung while urging the two sides to focus on other cooperative domains like agriculture, training of manpower as well as climate change combat.
However, according to Mr. Dung, although the two countries have signed the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) and are members of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the US still discriminates made-in-Vietnam exports and has not applied preferential tariff for Vietnam.
These problems have hindered the bilateral trade and investment relations between the two countries, said the host leader.
On this occasion, PM Dung hoped that the government of Washington State would continue to back overseas Vietnamese to reintegrate into the local society.
The Washington Governor pledged to forward the recommendations of PM Dung to the US administration and showed her optimism for good solutions to the trade disputes between the two countries.
Washington State wants to build prosperous and long-term ties with Vietnamese localities, said Governor Christine Gregoire.
The guest also took the occasion to seek further support from the Vietnamese Government for American products to penetrate the Vietnamese market./.
