At 19th ACC, Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan chairs forum on human talent nurturing

The three-day 19th Asian Corporate Conference (ACC) under the theme “Redefining Asia's Challenges and the New Role for Vietnam”, opened on Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh City. Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan today hosted the session “The Human Talent Pipeline: Education and Capacity Building.”
Many reports presented at the conference thoroughly analyzed long-term implications of the global financial crisis, impacts of the U.S. economic and trade policies on Asia, improvement of urban infrastructure and other issues.
Foreign participants also voiced questions for Vietnamese economic managers.
Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh affirmed that the Government will create best conditions for foreign investors, especially such fields as infrastructure, deep-water seaports, and high-quality education and vocational training.
There is no discrimination between State-owned and private enterprises, stated Mr. Sinh.
Representatives from Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, China, Japan, Indonesia, and Singapore were all confident in Vietnam’s macro-economic stability and higher growth rate.
Renewing and improving education work
Presiding over the forum "The Human Talent Pipeline: Education and Capacity Building” on Thursday, Deputy PM Nhan asserted that, to ensure their stability and comprehensive development, Vietnam and its ASEAN neighbors should speed up the training and selection of high-quality human resource, considering it the key to many national issues.
The Deputy PM stressed that, the Government is giving top priorities to educational, scientific and technological development. He added that Vietnam will focus on training restructuring and application of high technologies and IT in educational activities.
At the forum, Deputy PM Nhan introduced some solutions to improve education quality in Vietnam: (1) Internet connection for all 40,000 schools nationwide; (2) Preferential loans for students; (3) Founding four international-standard universities; (4) Training 20,000 PhDs in developed countries; (5) Shifting from quantitative training to qualitative one; (6) Vocational training for urban laborers: (7) Training on social and corporate demands; and (8) Foreign language teaching at secondary schools.
